The Duleep Trophy 2024-25, a highlight of India’s domestic cricket season, is set to begin in early September. This year’s tournament will primarily take place at two venues within the Anantapur Cricket Ground complex in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, with an additional match slated for the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Changes in Tournament Structure

The 2024-25 Duleep Trophy will feature a revamped format. Traditionally played with six zonal teams, this year will see a shift to a four-team format: India A, India B, India C, and India D. These teams will be selected by the senior national selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar. The tournament will adopt a round-robin league format with no knockout stages, and the team topping the standings after three rounds will be declared the winner.

Star Players to Watch

Key Indian players such as Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav are expected to participate in the Duleep Trophy. However, speedster Jasprit Bumrah will not be taking part due to a prolonged rest period. India captain Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli are also anticipated to feature, with Rohit last appearing in the tournament in 2016 and Kohli not playing a domestic First-Class match since 2012.
